What we offer and cost

An accompaniment ordinarily includes the following services:

The services can vary with each doula.

  • An introductory conversation to get familiar.
  • Two preliminary talks.
  • Four weeks 24/7 on-call time around the term.
  • Accompaniment during the entire birth (spontaneous, planned C-section, in the hospital, birth centre or at home)
  • Up to two follow-up conversations.
  • Phone and Email expenses are included in the flat fee, further expenses are met after reaching an agreement.
  • Constant availability as a contact person in case of questions during the pregnancy and after the birth.

The complete birth accompaniment fee starts at CHF 900.- and up, depending on the location and the doula’s experience. Doulas who are still in training have a reduced tariff. The costs can oftentimes be paid in either rates or after reaching an agreement with the doula.

Partial care (e.g. only preliminary or follow-up conversations), further conversations or a prolonged on-call time are possible and are settled depending on the effort. One could e.g. use this for personal birth prep.

Some doulas also offer extended puerperal care (instruction in handling the newborn, relief in the everyday chores)

These services can also be made use from, depending on which further education the doula has acquired.

For women/couples with a limited budget, we always aim to find a common solution. An accompaniment should never fail because of costs. We urge you to uninhibitedly contact the office or directly with the doula of your choice. They will gladly give you further information. One possibility could be for instance to get a doula companion who is still being trained and thus has lower fees.

What is a doula?

While the midwife is responsible for all things medical, the doula serves to enhance the care of the family by providing physical, emotional and educational support before, during and after birth. She is a non-medical professional trained in working with families during the childbearing year. The benefits of this ancient role were rediscovered in the 1970s through a study done by Drs John Kennell and Marshall Klaus. We invite you to explore our website and learn how a doula can support you during this transformational journey.
